#5 - mom, I don't want to grow up

A memo for Toymakers

I feel like the world has become quite boring.

Sure technology has made great advancements but I mean we have become boring.

Everyone takes themselves too seriously, uses complicated words, and rarely has fun anymore. We move too quickly, always chasing the next thing and rarely savoring the moment. The world is forcing humanity to grow up faster and faster, making us leave behind the most beautiful moments and feelings in life to seek meaning in a rat race.

We've stopped being curious and spontaneous, instead constantly worrying about how we're perceived. We've stopped exploring, and have found comfort in thought instead of action.

We've stopped playing, and resorted to thinking play is something only for kids.

I don’t believe that at all.

Play is for telling stories, living in the moment, and taking action. Play is for exploration, learning, and creation.

Play is a way of living.

It means to the see wonders in everyday things. It means to never let go of that childlike curiosity. It means being present.

We want to create things that can remind you of that. Make you feel that sense of exploration again. Show you that you can still have fun, you just need to look.
